New sites have no Pageranks for over 2 months

Google have my page rank at 0, yet it is number 2 in the search for "whats on in London" and No 5 for "what's on in London"

Google keep sending me info to say XY or Z have included me in their search engines etc. About 80 of them so far.
So if page rank is so good, how come I am No2, when it is 0?

I used PageRank checker http://www.pagerank.net/pagerank-checker/ to check your page rank, since your site has a redirect. I am seeing PR 4 for www.whatsoninlondon.net and also PR 4 for teh site it redirects to (www.whats-on-in-london.com)!

What you mean with this:

Google is sending you email spam or the search engines themselves are sending that?

Hi been waiting for my next one in, so you can see what I was talking about.
This is from Google Alert and is for my www.Whats-On-In-London.co.uk site. It shows on this site 51 web sites have links back into my site. In this case it is disney ticket UK websites

Google Alert has new results which can also be browsed interactively.

I would advise anyone that is trying to understand what pagerank is all about to go to Google and read what they have to say about it. Pagerank is their proprietary formula that calculates the value of your website to the rest of the world. Buying a link from a highly ranked website helps a little, but not much. It also takes into account how many high ranking sites link to you. It's a very complicated formula.

Here's a big secret you could all tuck under your hat -- pagerank doesn't really matter!

That's right. Here's what does - what do you want to get out of your website? That's the real secret. You want a million dollars? Work towards that. You want a million visitors? Work towards that. You want either of those? Work on loading your site with plenty of good content. Make your site attractive to someone wanting something (information, some product, etc.). Give them a reason to go to your website.

There's alot of people that want to take every short cut possible to make their web business viable and profitable. There's a million people out there that want to sell you their "formula" for success. for $100. Paying someone to link to your site is ridiculous. What does that get you? Eventually a higher pagerank? Maybe. And what does a higher pangrank get you? Answer that question.

The web is a business just like if you went out and bought a subway franchise. It takes time. And if you want to be successful, you have to pay your dues. If you're interested in selling dryer lint, spend your time making the best damn dryer lint site on the planet. Look at what the best dryer lint sites are doing, and do that and then do it better. That's the real secret. Then, you 'll have a very attractive dryer lint site, and people will like your site and visit you. And then, you'll start getting links from targeted dryer lint sites, and one day, in the middle of adding some more, quality dryer lint content, you might look up and notice you have a solid PR of 8. And you'll have the best damn dryer lint site in the world. And...you'll probably be adequately compensated for all your work.

There are no shortcuts in business people. Either in the "traditional" business world, or in the web world. Do the work, get the success.

Glad that this forum is helping you. We are all here to help each other.

As far as the guy that bought paid text links but his site is still PR0, it is possible that the value has not taken effect in Google yet. As you might have read in other posts, Google is now implementing a delay penalty for new links and they might not get counted for 3-6 months.

If your site is not in Google, then go out there and list yourself in directories, forums, guest books, blogs and do link exchange. Wait a few mnths and watch your PR move up as well as all your pages get indexed.

LINKS is the name of the game with Google.

Better to have a rich-content site to reach that high page rank (Viewers tend to look for sites thick in information)

I think you build not quality back links, what's why, you not getting PR, you can build quality relevant back links, then you gain PR.

Not easy to get page rank.. you must doing an agresive promotion such as adword. try see your rank at alexa.com

one of my sites had PR.0 in longtime but now that take pagerank PR.3.
if you be active in the seo of your site , next google update your site take a good rank.
