Google updates the algorithm continously. Some weeks ago there was a PageRank update that has affected to a number of big sites, specially those which sold links.
Last month, Google update page rank and some news comes up that they penalized the directories selling paid link that's why there is a delay of pagerank. The reason behind this is because some of the directories manipulate the page rank that's why there is a decrease of page rank.
