Negative keywords

Hello friends!!!!

Yesterday I came to know about "Negative keywords". Please tell me actually what are they?? Did they have any effect over SEO techniques???

Negative keywords usually use for Google Adword campaign and it is a keywords that allows your ads from appearing when the specific term of the search result.

as far as i understand this.. it a matter of targeting KW that is related to your site but not actually the team of the site, like for example your site theme was all about CONVERSE but you target the word contrast to it.. - correct me if im wrong

oh.. it's like something that filter the release of your keyword when searched.
