Choosing right keyword for your site
Before submitting your pages to search engines, the most important task is to select the right keywords to get your website in search result. Keywords which will best way describe your site and which will bring visitors to your web page. you should be very careful about choosing right keyword. After you make your own list of keywords, ask your friends to give you their suggestions and feedback. Use a thesaurus or dictionary. Some words may make perfect sense to you but may not to others and vice versa. After you choose them, add plurals of the same keywords. Always try to use keyword phrases so they make sense when they are put together. The key to successful promotion through search engines is to have the right keywords implemented at all the right places on your Web Page.

In my opinion, choosing the keyword(s) for your site is the first step even BEFORE you create a home page.
It's because you need to use your selected keyword(s) on your web page with using H1 tag and other methods for on-page optimization. When I make a web, I usually research what keyword(s) are available first. After selecting keyword(s), I create a web page with a good content based on the keyword(s) with the use of H1 tag and other things. Then meta tags for my keyword(s).
If you are trying to select keyword(s) after finishing your web page(s), you are already doing in a wrong order because you will find that there are things to be fixed here and there later on with the keyword(s). *For example, you will want to fix the keyword(s) density, tags, font size, or the entire content.

Yes, it is the basic step in optimizing a site. Select first the possible targeted keywords that fits your site content before you proceed in full on-page and off-page optimization.roxxy wrote:Before submitting your pages to search engines, the most important task is to select the right keywords to get your website in search result.
