Some points I like to make on how I have achieved these results so far.
1) Research competition to see the keywords they have used
2) Make every page a unique title
3) Include a keywords and description meta tags
4) Created a Yahoo Overture account and Google advertising account, I originally added every keyword I could think off, once the ads had been running for a while I then looked at the statistics for the ads and worked out the top 5 keywords people were using to find us.
5) Replaced all keywords in meta tags and body of website to include the keywords from Step 4
6) Create a sitemap and added it to www.google.com/sitemaps
7) Submitted website to a 4-5 web directories of a PR 4/5/6
9) Manual submission of website to directories and search engines
10) Created a sitemap and 404 html file for website
11) Created inbound links on my site ie when IT support was mentioned in the body of the text I would link this text to the IT support page.
12) Renamed html files to include keywords ie support.html, consulting.html etc
13) When I finished all the above I repeated again and again.....
Also my website is NOT in DMOZ even though I wanted it to be.
I hope this helps.
