Google Instant Search! Is this the end of SEO
Google Instant Search benefits and impact on SEO
Faster Searches: By predicting your search and showing you results before you finish typing, Google Instant can save 2-5 seconds per search.
Smarter Predictions: Even when you don’t know exactly what you’re looking for, predictions can help by guiding your search. The top prediction is shown in grey text directly in the search box, so you can stop typing as soon as you see what you need.
Instant Results: Start typing and results appear right before your eyes. Until now, you had to type a full search term then hit return, and hope for the right results to come out. Now results appear instantly as you type, helping you simply see where you’re headed, every step of the way.
If you do not know what Google Instant is yet, just go do a search. You will notice that Google will start matching the search results as you type. This is very similar to the “Google Suggest” feature they added some time ago, but taken one step higher.
The death of SEO?
How is Instant Search going to impact SEO. People have many different reactions to the recent change. Google’s new Instant Search system is a faster way of how we look for information online. Instead of typing a request into Google, hitting enter, and then seeing a list of results. Google users now see a changing list of results as they type a search query. Google considers this a significant step forward in the evolution of search. It claims the new system will save between two and five seconds per search. Extrapolate that globally and 11 hours are saved every second. Not bad, for a company that strives to make search as efficient as possible.
The online marketing community, however, has not been as gushing in its reception. Search Engine Optimisers, who try to get websites to the top of Google rankings, and Search Engine Marketers, who jostle for their sites to be placed in Google’s ‘Sponsored Links’, have been blogging and tweeting with worried haste, some going as far to suggest the death of online marketing as we know it.
Google Instant helps you think less about how to search and more about what you find.

I don't think so. SEO will still be in the game. Link Building isn't the only strategy for SEO. There are a lot of methods and strategies today. So I doubt it'll be the end of SEO.

I do agree with you robertd. There is still SEO techniques is important to rank keyword high on Google. Google hasn't made any major change in it's algorithm. You can also turn off the instant search if don't find it useful.

Re: Google Instant Search! Is this the end of SEO
Initially, Google’s new Instant Search system could mean a major change in how web surfers look for information online. Instead of typing a search query into Google and then hitting return, and waiting for a list of results, Googlers now see a dynamic list of results as they type. Google considers this a positive step forward in the development of searching. Google claims this new style of response will save between two and five seconds per search query.
