I don't think there is such character limit. Then what about those url which is longer than 50 characters, doesn't index them? Even they are indexed. So there is no such bounding I believe.

The longest functional URL that Google will crawl and index is approximately 1855 characters.
But for better ranking your url shuld not be more than 255 characters...

There are no limits shown around from Google itself but if you study the search results, those static URLs with better structure and easy to understand gets better looking info.

I had checked it out some time ago and it said that
'Main thing is that it have to be simple and within 50 characters for indexing by Google',
but in my view there is no such limit that I think Google puts to index the URL's.
But it is suggested that less count URL's are good for indexing.

I don't think there is any such limitation. But you have to remember the bigger the url the complex the url is and the tougher for crawler to crawl it. So keep it short and simple as possible.

Hummmmm...... i dont think so. There is no limit for urls characters. but if we keep it to minimum then it will be user friendly.

As far as, I know Google handles very long urls (at least 1000 characters) but the search results page will break them into several lines and even truncate the visible url. Make the urls truly friendly - as short as is practical for your site.

Don't you think 1000 characters are very high. As per my knowledge there is not any fixed rules of characters limitations of url. It is up to you. Just you need to keep in mind that URL should be short and easy to remember.ujju wrote:As far as, I know Google handles very long urls (at least 1000 characters) but the search results page will break them into several lines and even truncate the visible url.
