The <meta> tag provides metadata about the HTML document. Metadata will not be displayed on source code. It's for search engine.

Meta tags are snippets of informational code that have been located between your <HEAD> </HEAD> tags that are a part of the HTML document you've generated.

Before, meta tags are being used to improve search engine rankings, but due to abuse of many webmasters, the major search engines began discontinuing the use of Meta tags as major criteria for listing sites nowadays.

META tags are HTML tags that are used to include information about your web page. One big difference between other HTML tags and META tags is that META tags are always placed between the tags of the HTML page. A plethora of different META tags are available that you can use to include page-related information, but only two of them, the keyword tag and the description tag, are important from SEO perspective.

Meta tags are HTML codes that are inserted into the header on a web page, after the title tag. Meta tags can tell a browser what character set to use or whether a web page has self-rated itself in terms of adult content.
If your business is online then you need Search Engine Optimisation.

The Meta tag in html is not a required tag when you're creating your web pages; many pages don't use the tag at all, and I must confess that I've not used it on my home page, although I put it into this page by way of demonstration. To put it briefly, the meta tag is used by search engines to allow them to more accurately list your site in their indexes.

Meta elements are typically used to specify page description, keywords, author of the document, last modified, and other metadata.

The <meta> tag always goes inside the head element.

The metadata can be used by browsers (how to display content or reload page), search engines (keywords), or other web services.
I agree you. Thanks you sharing with friends.

That's right, to make it simple it helps the search engine to easily crawl if you use the meta tags correctly. To double check the meta tags of your site use ctrl and U
