How to run a successful directory?

Hi all,
After thankfully receiving one-way links from many directories, I am thinking of creating a directory. Please can anybody share some knowledge about how to run a successful directory?

first create a directory with some good design. u can use any free scripts.
after that there is hard work. promote your site in forums and free directories.

You have manage your directory carefully to save from spammer.

And you have to promote your directory well.

And only these methods can explore you business lots.

Hold a special promotions occasionally.

Like fast approval, or site will be placed in featured category in a week, etc.

Choose the design for your directory. Write the script. choose the appropriate categories. then brand it. Tell others about ur directory through the forums, blogs submissions

The directories is working for google. I know in this time bookmarking and networking sites are popular then the directories. but directories have lots of collection of the websites.

For the directory, it has to be design very well and easy for user and last is the have to be SEO friendly like URL's.

landlord's responsibility to find a plan to make it work. The article directories, it does not work correctly can be a house like a ghost town. Few visitors a couple of articles, very few activities in which only a handful of agents.
