I don't think it's a good basis for webmasters. For as we all know, Alexa is not an accurate tool.

Alexa ranking is a piece of crap. The traffic info it provides are misleading. Not a big fan of it.

Alexa measure website statistics. It gave Internet users suggestions on where to go next, based on the traffic patterns of its user community. Alexa also offered context for each site visited: to whom it was registered, how many pages it had, how many other sites pointed to it, and how frequently it was updated.

So it is important because it make your website and links relevant to the site the user is browsing

i don't think so alexa ranking is important , and i also don't think they are accure because on one of my vlog i have alexa ranking some thing like 1,32,000 And i am having just 10 or 11 visitors on it , but on other hand on my one of site where i am having 300+ visitors and that site have just 2,34,000 Alexa ranking , so i am so confused about this

Alexa ranking fluctuates a lot. But it is still considered as a baseline for reflecting traffic for websites. You can rely on it for 50%.

Not really accurate, but it gives us idea on which keyword we should target.

I have one question, one of my friend said that he has given a review my blog on alexa, but still is not reflecting there?

Do you have any idea why this happened?

This is a ranking system set by alexa.com (a subsidiary of amazon.com ) that basically audits and makes public the frequency of visits on various Web sites. The algorithm according to which Alexa traffic ranking is calculated, is simple. It is based on the amount of traffic recorded from users that have the Alexa toolbar installed over a period of three months. So All businesses that have taken up online marketing, aim at improving their conversion rate and alexa ranking play an important part in that.
