I think the keyword length should have to be between 11 to 15 characters. The percentage of impressions and clicks for this range of keyword length is really high.

I don't know about keyword length but if someone want to rank good in different search engines then choose keyword which has less competition for our business niche.

I agree with your comment but keyword diversity is utmost important for ranking our site on Google and we have to use 30% generic,40% main and 30% longtail keywords to attract targeted customers for our site.

After the Google's update Hummingbird, I think focusing more on long tail keywords will be a great idea, because Google's is also trying to give results according to that.
