Reciprocal links are worthless nowadays. Aim to practice 3-way linking.

try to link on a site with specific site content. Meaning those other categories that bounds on your site. Sometimes, linking to general niche can cause you with unequal ranks.

Better link with related sites in dofollow way.It is more effective in terms of traffics and leads.

only avoid cycle references from one to another site and vice versa. Build link tree not cicle. Because Google doesn't like reciprocal links.

Well the content of the post should be unique with some internal links. It si very important that the comments are made according to the context with proper knowledge people are not fool they have their own brain u c.
