Mostly link baiting likes link exchange where link exchanged in one-way process and three way process .

Bait - is your blog's (content, images and etc.)
Fishes - are the future and former visitors of your site.

Linkbait is essentially a piece of content placed on a web page, whether it's an article, blog post, picture, or any other section of cyberspace - that is designed for the specific intention of gathering links from as many different sources as possible.
link bait can be a gadget on your site that other sites reference.

I view link baiting in more than one way. I could be wrong but... One form could be considered creating good content so that people want to link to you.

the other that I think of

would be going to a site like Yahoo answer and asking some question with one account such as "What exactly is a blue widget used for?"

then using an alternate account to post an answer of like "oh blue widgets blah blah blah...you can go to bluwidgetsdomain . net , they have everything you could ever want to know about blue widgets

Link bait pertains to anything on a website that encourages links from other websites. It's a good way to get backlinks and drive traffic.

Link baiting (or linkbaiting) is the latest buzz word in the SEO world and has come to be the preferred way to natural link building.

It means to create something that naturally attract backlinks for your web page by getting people to talk about it, discussing it on forums, blogging about i, posting it on del.icio.us/Furl/Digg/Shoutwire and linking to it from their sites. It also attracts a lot of visitors.
