Singular vs Plural in Title/Meta
Singular and plural form of keywords can have vast difference in search volume, search trends, competition and conversions and this is what you have to look at when u decide the singular or plural version to target.

Whether its singular or plural, if you don't know how to optimize those keywords off-page, that doesn't make sense. If you done your on-page good, you only got 30% of the needed factor in optimization, the remaining 70% will be done through off-page campaign or link building.

I use plurals to avoid too many repeating of a keywords in a short sentence while creating a post.
They are both beneficial as long as you dont get yourself mixing it up so as to make your content for just search bots and not humans
