My site not indexed past the home page

Post by Andrew Hardscape »

Hello All,

This past winter I has a guy build my company a new web site.

It appears none of the search engines are getting past the home page.

My site DOES have a flash feature, but the designer and engineer swear that because it has hidden DIV, that the flash is not blocking anything. I do not completely believe them.

Can someone please look at my site and tell me what is wrong?

Also, I am not sure the other pages are linking with the home page. My web designerr said he will add links. What do you think?

Thanks in anticipation,
Andrew Hardscape

Flash AND Frames ???????????????????????????????

Damn Bro

In my opinion ( others here are smarter than me but ) you should do:

Fisrt and foremost I would cut back on the flash and use a little more html.

* don't use flash header, use the flash under an html header.
- you should have some kind of html navagation.
- be it primary or secondary

so to keep solution simple and cheap, above your flash website,
add a simple link ( not the skip link below ) to an html vesion of site.

* problem solved.

Secondly, consider NOT using Frames, at least not in the html version of your site.

Again problem solved. It should take less than 1 hour to convert your
flash site to a full out html site that WILL get indexed completely.

Maybe a little longer if you take the time to use an image rotator to partially simulate the flash effect.

* Don't worry, lots of people have both flash and html versions of their site, you have not wasted your money, but you need to finish the job with a complete html version if for nothing else the search engines.

* I'll only add that the html version can be edited by you, but any updates to your flash put you dependent on your Flash developer

( You have a very pretty site - but pretty aint everything )

Also, my site has drop down links that lead to the other pages.

I looked at someone else's web page stastics and I see Google is recognizing all their links that lead to their other pages.

At this point I believe I do feel that adding links to our home pages WILL allow the spiders to crawl our entire site.

Any thoughts on this?
