Google Sitemaps

I've created an XML sitemap file for Google sitemaps...but now I'm not sure what to do with it...the instructions seem a little vague. Does anyone know what to do with the XML file once you create it?

Actually, when you done with your sitemap your should create your google account. You can do it by gooing to https://www.google.com/webmasters/sitemaps

When you get there you use Webmaster tools and add your site. Then when you see your site added, you add your sitemap location, and then verify it.

Basically that was the way I did it.

I already have a google account, What I mean is, where do I put the XML file in my site? Do I create a new page and use that as an alternate sitemap. Then Tell Google where the page is to be found, and Googlebot will use the info to index the pages?

you do not need to do anything but link that sitemap to home page ( just make sure your site indexed by goole -> search it on goole ) goole will crawl it in next visit. or you can do quick by go to goole and add it .. but in my experiment .. it did not rely good.. they seem inoge the sumission and do crawl automaticly..

is it necessary to keep the xml file only
or is it that i have to link it also at the home page
cause i have created a site map normally
and i have also uploaded a xml file
which i created on the web with free site map builder in xml format

pls let me know

cause the xml file shows nothing as far as design is concerned.

for further refernce u can visit my site and see the site map page and
the xml page is there as sitemap.xml
but i have not linked in at the home page.
pls guys let me knw

I put my original Site Map and the XML site map both on my home page. The XML just has one text link to it though. Where as my designed sitemap is on my navigation bar.
