What has good PR rating got do with high ranking in google?

I have a website for approximately 3 months now http://www.6pack.co.za.

The amazing thing is that most of my keywords and phrases are ranked in the the top 10 in google, yahoo and msn search results from millions of other websites. Some of them are even no 1. in my home country it laying number 1 in all the local search engines for the keywords. Not that i complain, but my website has a PR rating of 0 in google.

So what has a good PR rating got to do with high ranking in google?

Last I heard, PR was taken VERY LITTLE into account when determining your ranks.

It is one of the last, if not the last thing it uses to determing your rank. (still does something tho)

none what so ever, unless you are focusing on just one keyword. Unique site content and quality will always prevail.

A good example is the search for "arctic weather" the top site in some data centres has a PR of 0, in others the top site has a PR of 4, many below it have ranks up to 8 or 10 if you count wiki.

Page rank is not that important since the new site relevance codes started taking place.

Ok, it makes sense.

I did a experiment by putting up another website two weeks ago, and it also ranked in the top 10 query results in google for certain of my keywords and phrases, within days.

So content is king and good SEO to your website.

Ranking high is depend your quality of back links. If you have a lot of back links, definately you will rank high with certain key even PR0!

Yes, links is an important factor, but if i check the sites that link to mine it is less than 20 websites.

The site I'm experimented with have about 3 sites linking to mine and I have no link to other sites from there. It still ranks in the the top 10 google search queries for most of my keywords and phrases.

So it looks to me like you don't need thousands of links to your website to get in to the top search results.

I see people saying that links make your rank, and its not true.


PageRank (only a factor of links) doesnt do much at all for ranking (if anything).

I agree with you, I personally don't think think you need thousands of links to have a high page rank. All you need is some links of related sites and some web traffic.

If you get a few links from high PR sites then your site will get a good PR! You dont need thousands but since the linking process never ends, you can get thousands.
