Google Image Database

I've added keyword phrases to many of my alt tags to my site's photos and I had expected to start seeing them in the Google Images database but when I search it nothing comes up...

Does anyone have an explanation for this??

You might just have to give it time and wait for google to update it all. Im not sure what the procedure for updates is and if you have the alt tags, you should be up there eventually!

Google doesn't give more positive to image - but any way you have to wait and monitor what will happen

Hi,
To optimize an image for Google image search try following tips:-
1) Name the image with the keyword
2) I think you use ALT attribute keyword
3) Link to a page using that image with the keyword in the URL
4) Put the image in a directory containing the keyword
5) Put the image on a page about the keyword

I agree with real estate.

Site theme matters too (if you have pics of ferrari's on your ferrari website its better for example)

Google is in the process of changing its image search to reflect quality and not spam, and human processing is part of the new theme. The old ways will work for some time, but high quality images will soon get to the top first. Page Rank and Clever SEO will not always help you anymore.

You might wish to work in tandem with someone to give keywords for your own images, but there will be safeguards to stop this.

According to my knowledge it is very important factor is "name of image file" If your Image is SPAM Camera, then name this picture file as 'SPAM -SPAM(SPAM =model Name) not 'SPAM camera.
I use this trick for index my images easily.

Will Image Resoultion (DPI) influence for this matter? what is the optimum resolution for image?

All that matters is the overall dimensions in pixels. Too big and the viewer gets nasty scrollbars. I like images around 600x400 pixels.

are you sure youre images matches youre search critera settings ?

from what i know you can choose between

small
medium
large

depending on the pixel range look so it does not have anything to do with that, otherwise good luck

I don't think ALT tags could affect so much Google image database, that is mostly used for your website SEO, but I assume not for a Google image search.
As far as I see most of the Google images appear in the image search based on the block of content surrounding the image, not even image file name makes so much affect. Take a look at any images at Google image database, their file names and alt tages in most cases are different from your search criteria.
