hmmm, does your html tables play a role in top ranks on the search engines? like nested tables? I seen a guy post something in a webmaster forum once, on how to do something and i showed him how to do it with nested tables and he didnt want to do nested tables at all? maybe nested tables hurt you ?

Hi,
That's a great question. I don't know. I supposedly used "SEO Optimized" tables. In fact, I'm actually switching to pages with less tables, but I will still have tables and nested tables (just not as many). I'm not familiar enough with css styles to not use tables anymore.
I wonder if anyone knows?

Is there a way to know your in the sandbox? My site only ranks for 1 keyword in Google and is #31 but makes wide swings daily from 340th to 31st. Does that mean I'm in the sandbox or does it mean google thinks my site sucks on some days? The site was put up in April of this year.

There is noway to know you are in sandbox, but if your site is less than 6 months old and not ranking for anything then that would be an indication. However, I have seen sites rank in as little as 3 months in Google and the way they did it is by creating quality incoming links. The site was a p0ker/cas1n0 Review site, which is pretty competetive. However, it contained a lot of content and fresh daily additions in form of visitors posting reviews and also recieved oneway links from visitors that liked teh site. The site had probably around 100 links or so in 3 months when it was out of sandbox. So what do we learn from this? The following may help you get out of sandbox faster:

1- Quality links from relevant websites, including one-way links
2- Quantity of links. Over 100 links may help
3- A lot of content and fresh content

It's a pretty good tool to give you a general idea.

Well, Yahoo updated and I'm ranking very well on all my pages. Traffic has doubled. But Google? Nothing.
In fact, the number of links to my site has decreased. All of my pages (some odd 90) point to my home page, but Google only counts 14 of them (it was 16 until today). I wonder if that means anything?

I'm noticing that delay on the counting of new IBLs on the sites that we promote. It's quite frustrating since customers are not really patient.

for me that measure doesn't make sense because it doesn't spam at all. Just delay it.

I think Google is turning into another big and bloated company that is loosing its customer-centric focus. Their delaying mechanism is baffling. At 6 months, poeople told me to wait 7 months. At 7 months, people told me to wait 8 months. 9 months later, I'm tops on Yahoo, Ask, and MSN, but nowhere to be found in a Google SER.
Oh, you need inbound links, they say. How can I get inbound links if no one can find my pages, I say. A catch-22?
What can I do? I ask Google. We are too busy buying up the world, responds Google.

I have a website for approximately 3 months now. Some of my keywords and phrase queries rank in the the top 10 of google, yahoo and msn, but I only get a a couple of hits a day. I wonder if my site is in the sandbox?

If your site is in the sandbox, then you wouldn't get decent rankings. So, if your kewords and phrase queries rank in the top 10 (and congratulations, btw), then you aren't in the sandbox.
So, if you are only getting a couple hits a day, it must be something else.

Hi all,

I've just found somehow this forum and got reading, reading until came here... really liked it - nice opinions from experience

So, my question is how do you really can detect if sandboxed? I've checked the link given by Scott, but it is a future tool...
First to say I am new to webdesign, but not to SEO. So I've decided to give a try and built few STATIC HTML ONLY, and AS MUCH AS I KNOW SEO-FRIENDLY sites.
They are form late August/beg. of Sept. and the strangiest is that the newest has almost all of its pages indexed by Google, while the first/the 1 from the signature/, the 1 which I'm mainly looking for and optimizing has now just 20 pages cached..they were about 40-50 firstly-almost all, and now the site has about 100+ pages! However, it appears somehow in Google's results, but is not comparable with these of MSN - MSN has indexed the whole site I think. And also Google displays only 12 links to it as they should be around 100 I think.
Does this all mean it is sandboxed? There are few pages on it with Adsense, not comparable with the other newer sites, which have on almost all pages and have less backlinks.
Additionally, I've tried some of these PR predicting tools - they all say PR~3-4 after the next update...but I don't really believe them.
Any ideas and comments are appreaciated!
p.s. I've submited the sites to google as well as a site maps.

I have had page 1 listings in a little over aweek for comptative listings

The sand box does not exist.

All you need is powerful links and no penalties.

There are many ways to get penilized.

If you get penilized you are in the penilty box.

Penilties very from a few page drop to out right ban.

sometime google will forgive you if you undo it.

But I don't think I did smth to be penilized in general. However, my sites are really very 'young', so maybe google don't like many fast links, especially reciprocal ones to such sites...time will tell

Maybe i've just been hasty with rec.links and affiliates.
Anyway, Im glad there are other SE's except google still, actually I've never searched in google before getting involved into a SEO job and now with my sites...but people do, as you know, so that's what defines the search engine market.

I believe the sandbox does exist.
How does one get so many backlinks within a week as to put them at number one?
I honestly don't believe it. Do tell us how you achieved that.
My experiences show Google is extremely slow to update new sites or pages without a page rank. I have pages that Google hasn't updated since July. My backlinks have never increased for some pages, but I can tell the exact moment they came out the sandbox (especially with non-competitive keyword phrases).

Scott, you mean how I initially made a lot of links? - the point is that I have a lot of old link-partners, with whom i've been swaping links before, so I did it now with my sites, but it wasn't a week - maybe 2-3-4...
Anyway, this was a mistake - I should built only 1-way links for start and use the reciprocal ones when the sites have some PR already.
