Yes, it works, but not all the time. When it comes to exchange links, you should select partners from relevant niche with high PR.

Getting backlinks from relevant and good PR sites is always beneficial. If you get backlinks from a site which has high PR than yours, then it will certainly affect your ranking as well.

Link exchange is still effective. In order to make this one more effective dont go for reciprocal it is more effective if you go for three way link exchange cause this kind of LE is more like a natural link.

I would rate the from best to worst, LinkMarket, Link Partners and then LinkMetro. Link Metro is rated last because I keep having problems with their website shutting down on me while trying to complete exchanges.

It could be just my computer.

Each website works differently, but the basic idea is that you intiate a link exchange request, an email is sent to the other party, they either accept or deny the request. Then the exchange is made by placing each others link code on each site.

Link Metro is so bad

It does work, but it isn't as good as one way links..and it needs to be with relevant sites

mikejoel · Post by **mikejoel** » Sun Apr 04, 2010 8:41 pm

it really works if you choose a relevant site to exchange with and if they will approve your request for the link exchange

I heard that Google will penalize sites practising link exchange.
