I have always thought that one of the best place to look for links are by searching for the sites that link to your competition.

If these hub sites are willing to link to your competitor, they are more than likely willing to link to you. It is a good idea to try getting links from these resources that have shown the willingness to link to sites like yours in the past.

there are a lot of techniques to build back links but some of this are not already giving much benefits like they used to.. i think the only technique that still works best is forum participation and blog commenting in do follow sites...

It is better to get your back link placed on the first or second page of a website than hundreds of pages in. Make sure that you can get to the page your link is going to be on from the home page of the website. If you can't get there, than the search engines probably can't get there
