Is backlink imporatnt for PR and ranking?

Newly added a page in my existing website. Keywords are ranking and page got 2 PR within 2 weeks with no backlinks..

You say you added new page to your site, so it is an inner page. And probably it got backlinks from other part of your site and they can give PR juice too to your site. Also, PR is not only about backlinks, it's content plays role too in rating it's importance.

maybe your homepage got high PR or your site got good reputation in google and the page is linking to the home page. It got boost because of the link in home page.
