301 redirect & "freeserve"

Hi,

I am trying to put up a 301 redirect from my old site (http://www.pcgledhill.freeserve.co.uk) to my new site www.ukpetportraits.co.uk.

It will not work and when I upload the .htaccess file it does not appear in my web directory even though it defintaley uploaded.

Could it be that my old "freeserve" host does not allow this function? If so how can I get around it withour losing pagerank?

Check with your .htaccess file whether you have given the correct permission.
