You have to specifically work on links building. They can bring more traffic in an indirect way-better placement on Google.
Commenting on the forums, obtaining one-way link from site with high PR, writing articles for directories (the best of your service), submit site to the directories (paid and free), submit the RSS feed to the RSS directories ...

To increase traffic, generally you can use social media bookmark sites as Facebook or Twitter, etc (they will not help to links building because they are nofollow) ...
Do niche for your site (blog where you advertise your services and submit blogs RSS feed to directories) in order to increase traffic ...

I think that the main goal is to bring quality visitors to the site, visitors who may be potential customers, and this will be achieved only when you make your way on the first page of Google for relevant keyword ...
