there are 200+ factors for Google Rankings.., the important and major is content..., content which plays a vital role in SERP's in Google SE.., and another one is Link Building which is also another factor, try to get 1 way as much as u can...helps in boosting ur rankings..,

If Google sees your site more hits on your site, especially getting a certain page, your position will move on natural searches. To increase your page rank, no, you can optimize your site and getting quality backlinks pointing to your site will need to put some time into. You do that and then click on your site you will start seeing good results on Google searches a lot!

Most of the items listed in every section work well in many search engines not just Google.

I would say a sitemap is important if you have a bigger site.

I would also say in the "factors that may count against you" to watch out for building up reciprocal inbound links to quickly. The one-ways do not matter as much, because there is no way to control who links to you (if your site is popular you may get 1000's of one-way links overnight). It is my belief that the only links NOT to build to quickly are reciprocal ones that Google may view as a "non-natural" link.

Another great addition to the "links" section on your list would be a submission to DMOZ directory (http://www.dmoz.org). Dmoz results are used in the Google Directory and show up near the top of search engine results pages all over targeted keyword terms. Dmoz allows webmasters to use their results as suplimental search results in website directories, or as a full site directory or even just one or two categories. Since they allow this that means depending on what category you are in, you could have other people adding it to their own site directory. Whats good about that? Well if 1000 people have your Dmoz category content on their site and your link is on the page you could potentially have 1000 links to your site (this is only from sites and urls that are indexed in google. Msn and yahoo index a lot more of these pages than google does, simply because google does not want the same content in thier index.

My website is less then 4 month old, and although I managed to rank high in Google on my main keywords, I still in PR0.
Is there a minimum time frame to get to PR1?

I dont think anyone out there coudl give you the right factor, as google tend to change its algorithm all the time

If you have good user experience on site and have been providing beneficial services to user, on other way if you are getting links back from high pr site than it would be great to have link juicy.
On page factors especially all the meta tags and on page content must be relevant to the products that you have been providing....

Google no public using PageRank algorithms in detail is afraid that everyone know will find out which one after the loophole, let oneself website ranking in Google search results in creeping up, like Coca-Cola won't disclose their soda secret recipe is same. But from the opening Angle for, Google openly using PageRank algorithm, let everybody come to improve the accuracy of the algorithm, is a kind of more praise of approach. But judging from Schmidt answer, and recently, there will not be the hope.
