Link baiting is the process of creating high value content on your a website that is so valuable that people link to this content and so become link builders for you. Building valuable content really is the number one rule of SEO.

Link Bait :
Link bait is content on your site, what other sites link to because they want to, not because you ask them. Traditionally, the links are difficult to obtain, you must sacrifice the first baby born (and at least one link in the rear, which cancels the value of some search engines.) But the link bait, not the content "bait" and sit and wait. Of course, you can be a bit 'more active.

Thanks for your reply and sharing the information. There are some ideas below on how to build content that people will link to-

Make a valuable resource (lists, special reports, history of, how to, etc.)
Interview (e-mail/phone) prominent people and publish it.
Build a useful tool
Write an interesting article
Run a newsworthy ‘event’ such as a contest

you are right but if you need unique users and hight traffic you will create some blogs, linkexchange, twitter posting, etc

Linkbaiting is a term I’ve been coming across a lot on various blogs and forums. For a few days I ignored it thinking it was some “blackhat” seo tactic to promote your links due to the expression “baiting”. Some detailed reading made things quite clear.

Of course the straightforward meaning of linkbaiting is encouraging others to link to you. Legitimate linking brings you quality traffic and who doesn’t need quality traffic? Linkbaiting generally takes place in your niche area. For instance, I write on content writing, copywriting and blogging on this blog, and if I write something really compelling, people interested in these subjects would like to link to my post.
