Can tags benefit our SEO?

When you submit a social bookmark, you will often enter some tags.
I want to know that is this tags are useful for our SEO project and how.?

No I do not agree with you. Tags are just for internal search of the website. It wont help you to increase SERP. Only enchor text matters. Keyword should be used as anchor text. In social bookmarking "Title" is used as anchor text so include keyword in title to get better result.

It surely has but what makes this SEO method works is the quality, interest and unique of the content/site being submitted that people would attract and would talk about it.
