You'd better use exactly the phrase you target.

It depends on your analysis and target audience. When it says "Firms", you are pertaining to more than one company, it that what you are targeting? You can use both singular and plural but better give much priority on which is actually has sense and fits to your site.

It is good practice to use the combination of both that is the short tail as well as the plural of the keyword.

You guys should read more about english. Singular form of a word is like the word 'shoe' and the plural form of that word is added with (s) to make it 'shoes'. And what you're talking about is not the singularity or plurality of a keyword but if you should focus more on your long tail keyword or your short tail keyword.

If you are talking about the long tail and short tail keywords then you should focus more on long tail keywords because your niche is very competitive. It will be hard to rank in short tail keywords in your niche and it will take too long to be recognized by search engines.

I think both are same, but it depends on your business. If your business deals with multiple range of items then go for plural, and if you have a unique business then go for only singular ones.

Best of Luck!! :-)

As per my knowledge You will try both this form like singular and plural also. And check the traffic of those keyword in google analytics who's having more view and traffic, choose that keyword for your website.

Well as for my opinion, it depends on competition your keywords has (singular or plural form). When we talk about keywords to target, you should always check how competitive the keywords are and how high or low the search results. Your keywords has a lot of competitors. I suggest that you use other keywords to optimized.
