Submitting text Sitemaps to Google

hey guys.. I just wanted to know can we submit txt sitemap too to google webmaster tools as I have been submitting the only xml sitemaps for my sites

You have to submit the sitemap to Google only in xml format. You can submit the sitemap to Yahoo in txt format.

There is a way to submit TXT sitemaps to google, but if you already submitted an XML sitemap, there is no reason to. They will like your XML sitemap more than the TXT one, so just stick with that one.

I guess it depends. The way I see it is that it can help you to get your whole site spidered, but if your site has already some popularity and, hence, your whole site gets spider, it doesn't make sense to submit the sitemap to google because it shows the structure of your site completely flat, while when the bot crawls your site it understands the hierarchy of the site.

If it's a new site, it will help you get indexed faster. If you dont submit a sitemap, your site will get found, but it might take a while. Also, if you do submit a sitemap, you can see if google sees any errors and stuff with your links or whatnot. Most sitemap creation programs will help you to optimize your site a little by giving you some feedback while its producing a sitemap for you.
