What do you mean by keywords in the url? I think you mean about keywords in the Title. According to my experience Keywords in the title are the most important part in SEO.

If wwww.keyword1.com/keword2/keword3.htm is what you meant, you are probably right. But msn also thinks the same way as yahoo does. I just mean to say that google does not give much importance as the others do. But it is good to create pages this way.

If you do a search on Google it will bring up the most appropriate site in its opinion with that key word, it highlights the keywords where they appear and if there is that keyword in the url it will highlight that as well, my conclusion is that it does have a bearing on the search and is worth trying to include the keyword if you can.

Google Keywords

Post by peterko »

Hi,

Keywords in the URL are important as well as they are important in back-links used within website. That's the basic thing for SEO. But I also noticed that it's really matter how you apply them within URL. For example: it is better when you put them something like that "www.blublublu-yourkeyword.com", than "blublubluyourkeyword.com" or "blublublu_yourkeyword.com". In the first case your keyword is more recognizable. But if you really like the other combinations of keywords, that also helpful.

Both of them are important, but as far as I know, inbound links are the most important. MAKE SURE, those inbound links are good quality links and relevant to your site.

Have a great day,

I've put tons of keywords into my URLs by naming all my pages combination of keywords. the downside is that your visitors cant access a certain page well if they have to type www.yoursite.com/keyword1/keyword2-kw3-kw4-kw5.html but you can kind of get around it. my host allows me to add as many redirect addresses that i want. so if i want to i can name a page whatever i want, but i make a redirect page on my site that is easy for my visitors to type in. it also makes it easier to type in links in your sitemaps and other internal links in your page.

For good SEO, you need to have a solid understanding of on-page and off-page factors as both these factors plays very crucial role in optimization. Good quality inbound links and keywords relevant to your site contents would help you for ranking up in Google.

I dont think so.As its the common method to link the site using the hyper link option. In forums we are using the same procedure using the url tag.So, it got importance to improve the key word count of the site.

keywords in the URL is definitely important. i haven't analyzed yahoo's indexing method yet, but from what i've noticed from google. having the keyword in the URL is definitely one of the most important onpage SEO tactics, when it comes to google.
