A link farm is a group of web pages that all links on every page in the other group. It is designed to increase the ranking of all sites in the results pages of search engines (SERPs). As far as I concern with SEO. Link farm is called as Black hat techniques. I would not like to get back links from any of the black hat techniques. In place of Link farming you may get back links from Forum submission as well as Article Submission.

Link farming is black hat SEO technique. it simple mean when multiple sites point to our sites called link farming and those sites irrelevant our site themes.
