I am totally agree with you that you say right keywords attract the right visitors.. I am in SEO filed so I know impotence of keywords. also anchoring of right keyword is important if your keyword is not match with your link then its not good for your website and Google not crawl your link and some time it increases unreachable link. so proper Keyword research is good for to increase your website visitors.

Choosing the right keywords form an essential part of the SEO strategy, its this aspect that is going to decide the success of your website over the search engines.

If you have a new website, it is always better to target the keywords with low-medium competition and in the meanwhile work on the high competition one's. Its my opinion though.
