Grey PR, Is this a Penalty?

Hi, all
As all of you know that PR Update is almost completed & this update cause many websites Up's & down's.

The one thing i noticed in this update is Grey PR, what is this, is this is a penalty. If it is a penalty, then can anyone tell me, on what basis this penalty is given to websites.

The websites which are regularly cached, are having Grey PR, then what is this.

Can anyone told me.

When u get a gray ber that only means that u r banned fror participating in illegal activities like using black hat

not really, in case of new sites, have grey bar by default (just lacking on pr ranking criteria)

Oh yes i was not commenting about the new sites .New sites have a gray bar.....

Google seems to have changed the way it displays PR results inthe Google Toolbar. It used to be that if you saw a greyed out PR bar, it meant that a page was banned by Google. Now it seems that the Greyed PR bar just means Google has no page rank information available.

The question now is, how do you know if a page is banned?

When a site is banned we dont get any reference ( DIRECTLY) from google and google stops showing that site in its search or puts it in supplemental results

Grey PR.. there is nothing like grey PR.. its just that google do not know about that page.
And yes.. if page is blocked then it will not show up in seach result..

other use site:wwwyoursite.com command to check if SE's indexed any of your page...

One possible why your PR or your PR bar is gray, is that Google just has not indexed your page yet. It can be easily checked by typing in the URL of the webpage in Google. Or what had suggested.

Another common reason for a page to have a grayed out PR bar is when Google has decided to ban the webpage.It may be due to a page performing some Black Hat technique.

And the third reason for a page to get a gray PageRank bar is for being a supplemental result.
