Traffic and PR?

Hi,
Sorry this may be a really silly question...

Is there any relationship between a pages' traffic and its PR? Or alexa traffic rank and PR?

Nope! There is no such relation between PR and Alexa rank. PR can be achieved by quality back links and good domain visibility and Alexa rank is purely based on traffic and traffic is generated by popularity and unique keywords. But there some relation generates like if there is good back links to your site and good SERPs then naturally there will be great traffic and due to traffic it will have good Alexa rank.

PageRank refers to how important Google thinks a specific page on your site is. It is totally independant of the position a page is based on. A specific page on your site is positioned in the search engines based on the relevancy to whatever a person types into the search box.

A page with a high PageRank can be listed lower for a specific keyword than a page with Low PageRank. It's all about relevance (and there are some other factors in there that determine the position).

Alexa traffic listings don't really tell you much. I don't find that site helpful at all. But I don't think it is related to PageRank either.

I agree with the statements about PR not being of much use for much of anything but maybe a tie breaker. SEO's use it as a sales tactic and others use it to charge you more for marketing on their sites.

Alexa is a joke, When I first started my first website I had my site in the 500K range in alexa but only had a couple of new visitors a week. All the others were me checking my site. I removed the alexa tool bar and lost my alexa page rank back into the millions. It is the tool bar that matters to alexa.

Traffic is King and that requires a lot of page content and a few backlinks. Oh, and a good niche.

As far as I know Alexa is taken into consideration when you buy or sell your site, this is kind of illusion of indication how important is your site with its current trafic. You could easyly drop your traffic if you stop doing your site promotion.

PR is also important for buying/selling the sites. It's also important for link exchanges, etc. It's more important than Alexa, simply because it's Google issue. But PR is not that much important as SERP, which actually gives you your real visitors and provide real traffic. As it was mentioned above, the site with lower PR can have bigger SERP ranking. I would focus more on SERP than PR. IMO.

Page rank are the link analysis algorithm and continues to provide the basis for all Google search. It measure the relative importance within the internet that what is called "backlinks. Page traffic is the amount of data send and received by the visitors through website. PR measures quality of one's site and its backlinks... you can have high PR without any traffic at all.. so I believe that Traffic has no relation with PR...
