Does Pagerank help rankings?

Hi All.

Ive been looking into page rank,i have read many articles and all the info i find about page rank is diferent.
some articles say that page rank will improve your search rank so in other words you go higher up in google and more peeps will find your site.

other articles say that page rank has no efect on serch results and it is just how google ranks your page out of 1 - 10.

so if your page rank does not have any efect on your search ranks then what is the point of having a page rank?

does any1 know what page rank can do for a website does it make any diference?
would love to know

I don't really know what Page Rank is for other than telling you what Google thinks of your site on a scale from 1-10.

I've seen a lot of really bad sites that have very high page rank...so what does it tell you...not much, I'm afraid.

If we are talking about the higher search engines results, I guess PR doesn't make a big difference. Probably something else (like other Google algorithm) comes into affect, which is not always related to PR.

That's right, there are many lower PR sites outranking other competitors. Just guess, it might be the result of some kind of penalties applied to the sites located lower at search engine result list. Sometimes it's not eazy to figure it out why Google apply those penalties, but it looks there is a huge list of criteria. Any other idea?

PR is much the hipe but in some cases/most cases, having a high PR will get you a lot of traffic. On the other hand, my website was ranked 6th on Google for a month with a PR of 0 and then all of a sudden it fell off the face of the earth. Can't even find it within the first 10 results pages.

Actually I was performing a test and that test was to make the sight content SEO friendly without doing any link backs. As I said, worked for about a month. Guess it's on to the second half of SEO optimization.

i know site that have a PR5 and even PR6 and only receive no more then 100 hits a day, unique that is, so PR doesnt really have much to do with how many uniques a site gets, its more for google's use i think.

There are no effect of PR on google ranking.Google ranking depends on site contents.

Hi, good day! I really recommend that you must focus on your SERP and not on PR its the traffic counts.My blog has no PR but that targeted keyword is on the top of Google search engine.

If i were you, don't just focus to PR.. Especially now PR still not updating.. The important thing now is pay particular on your rankings in SERP on your targeted keywords..

Nope, its always on SERP's link building and a unique content is a big help for that.

Lets say you have a high PR but your SERP's on targeted keywords are not on top. do you think it will help your site to get some visitors? i think not..

No PR will not effect your SE position.

Your keywords cannot rank if there is no visitors in your site. I think page rank, keywords and traffic is different in meaning but it help our site to be visible in the search engine. Page rank tells if your site has backlinks or if your site is familiar , keywords ranking is based on the positioning of your keyword in the search engine and traffic is based on the hits or visitor of the site.
