Help me Please , it's regarding Google Penguin Update

Recently THe Google Update has taken place and almost everyone of us would have heard about its consequences.
I wanted to know , is excessive directory submission (i.e. 50 Directory submission) harmful for the site's health and Ranking in terms of Google's point of view?

I heard over few articles that directory links are getting more devalued, especially those from very crappy and no moderation directories where links are very irrelevant.

Well any crappy things can never get value. google penguin update is about webspam. So many links with same anchor text and such like that suspicious activity which doesn't seems natural( or can say looks like spammy and generated for specially seo benefits

Yes i'm completely agreed with you on Google Penguin update. This update is only for those websites which are not doing SEO correctly or use much spam links for its website.

I too losing all good ranked keywords. Some are recovered too.
