Why do designers consider Arial to be a cheap knockoff of Helvetica?

Why do designers consider Arial to be a cheap knockoff of Helvetica?

Am curious to know about this due to the reason that i recently joined https://www.signsny.com/ as an internee, so I want to be a professional art designer.I think Because most designers mistake less uniformity for lesser quality.
