Job Responsibilities of a Marketer

Post by evansmith02 »

“Duty as much in this word. I will continue to publish articles on the topic of studying the specialty of marketing. In this post I decided to write about what job responsibilities a marketer exposes employer. What should a marketing manager do at all while being at his workplace? I already wrote about requirements earlier, and this is a logical continuation :). ”

It does not matter which way, but the position of marketing specialist is already ours. A reasonable question arises - what to do now? When there is experience or skills in this area, everything is easier, at least there is an understanding where to start. But if there is no experience. What job responsibilities should a marketer do? I will try to analyze and answer this question.

Again, I will use the vacancies for the position of marketing manager in Moscow and the Moscow region. After all, there, in addition to the requirements, there are also responsibilities. The employer also prescribes them, so that the new employee even before joining the company, understood that they would lay it on him and whether he would have enough strength to pull the burden. And for the implementation of what tasks he (the employee) will receive his salary.

Job responsibilities of a marketer in a company
I reviewed the same 50 vacancies for the position of marketing manager and selected the employer's key wishes for the functionality performed. The number indicated next to the duty is the number of mentions in the general list of vacancies.

Analysis and research of various markets - 27
Preparation, coordination and launch of advertising in accordance with company policy - 22

Preparation of reporting for the head - 19
Development, coordination and launch of POSM (leaflets, booklets, etc.) - 18

If we consider that we must be a developed person in all areas of activity, then such a list of job duties of a marketing specialist is not something particularly impracticable. And even an ordinary marketer can execute at least half of this list, without particularly straining.

To be honest, in practice, the responsibilities of a marketer are much greater. A very high level has been raised for us (if the marketer is mediocre, then why is he needed, and if he is a good specialist, then he will be very much drawn).

However, it is worth noting an unimportant fact. Earlier five years ago, among the main job duties of a marketer there were such tasks as mainly advertising and sales. Today, the strategy appeared and analyst. Time is changing :).

Personally, my opinion is that the main responsibilities of a marketer, and the scope of the company's activities does not play a special role, should be only three points:

Studying and researching the company's customers, as well as meeting their needs, so to speak, to the maximum;
Analysis of competitors, as well as the adoption of urgent measures to be ahead of competitors;
Analytics of their own key performance indicators, such as profit and turnover.
