Odd meta tags NOARCHIVE

Post by Hagens »

I was checking some link partners, and reviewed the code to a certain page of theirs.

Reading the top code, I found the following...

<META name="robots" CONTENT="index, all">
<META NAME="GOOGLEBOT" CONTENT="NOARCHIVE">

If there is a 'no archive' tag, then will I ever get PR from these guys??

They are probably unaware of this, but maybe they are allowing everyone but Google into the site?

My guess though is that they dont know they have that set. If they site has a .htaccess they could be allowing / disallowing bots there too.

You don't really need the robots tag, as the 'default' for spiders is to crawl and index pages regardless unless they are disallowed. Some bots still pay attention to those tags though so it's recommended that you still include them between head and /head.

If you want to remove your WebPages from the Google Cache, simply add the following Meta Tag into your HTML:
<META content="noarchive" NAME="robots">
