What is the current and future state of SEO as you see it?
I read so many blogs and hear so many podcasts that say "SEO is dead" or soon will be. Do you think there is any truth to these arguments? Or does SEO just get a bad rap because there are so many people who illegitimately claim to know so much about it, but aren't successful? I work for a large agency mainly on PPC stuff but am thinking about learning more about SEO, just don't know much about where it's going.

Uhmmm! SEO industry is not dead. You can say that SEO is dead if we are not using internet or the World Wide Web in our generation today. As long as the internet is here, SEO is continue uprising. For what I know in SEO industry is continue expanding as more companies and individuals dealing in this industry. Maybe a wrong connotation or info that SEO might be dead because of lot of companies are arguably dealing on it and competing for their best services eventhough they haven't the knowledge. For me, look it into the positive way, more website means more jobs for SEO.

Both bright and sunny!
I think SEO is just going to start growing and get more main stream. I've started even now to come into contact with people who know what it is, when months ago people did not even know it existed. But we still have a ways to go. And I think there will always be a place for it if there is a search engine still around.
