Re: Google Ranking Factors
The most important ranking factors are PageRank and incoming Text Link Keywords . PageRank is determined by the number and quality of links to a page. Both the quantity and quality of text links are important. Always try to get links from web pages with a PageRank rating of at least four. Always provide text links for linking to your site and avoid image links.

Google page rank and backlinks
That list on the first page is probaly one of the best I've seen. Unfortunately, their are a lot of probably and not a lot of certainties. It seems to me like google is working to eliminate all possible short cuts.
My question is what is the ballpark number of backlinks you need to give you a boost in your google page rank? I heard 18 high quality backlinks will give you an increase of 1. Is this true or is it all about the quality.

I'd say if you were distill it to the 3 biggest factors, they would rank something like this ...
- Inbound links with keyword in anchor text
- Keyword ranking for sites linking to you
- Keyword on your page (title, header, and text)
Just take care of those 3, and don't do any funny business like invisible text or whatever, and you'll be in good shape.

I'm surprise by (f). Why would cas1n0 related content count against the site. I would imagine people looking for cas1n0 sites want to find them.andr77 wrote:Hi, this information is very interesting for me. Espesicially paragraph 3. Thanks
3) Factors that may count against you
a- Too much keyword repetition
b- Hidden content via text same color as background or CSS or other such methods
c- Javascript Redirects or certain other redirects
d- Cross linking bunch of sites to eac other in the same network
e- Doorway pages. Pages that are specifically written for search engines and cannot be found by your site visitors via your normal navifation menues.
f- PPC (SPAM/cas1n0) : Adult, cas1n0 related content
g- Duplicate content : watch out for those duplicate filters. Make sure your site doesn't have content from other sites or no one else has copied you.
h- Age of your domain. Brand new or less than 6-month old domains may be in the Google Sandbox
i- Participating in Link Farms or services that try to artificially increase your links by doing shortcuts
j- Cloaking : Showing a page to search engines different than what the users see based on their IP address
