You should build a whole linking strategy, including digg. Use digg, myspace, facebook, twitter, bebo, various forums, niche specific directories, discussion forums...pretty much anywhere you can.

Also consider the pro directories such as google and yahoo. Yahoo costs $300 a year but is very highly regarded in googles page rank algorithm.

Don't forget dmoz either, but bare in mind it is manually edited and not all sites are accepted.
