multiple signature links to same website

Post by davidaneff »

A lot of us do it: put links to several pages of the same webstite in our signature.

does anyone know if search engines somehow deduct link credit to adjacent links to the same site? In other words, if you have 10 links to your site all in a row, could it be possible that each one is worth only 1/10 of what a solitary link would be worth?

(I know that each successive backlink from the same site is worth less and less. this is a different question about the proximity of those links to one another.)

It's not like every other link reduce it's own importance by 50%. There are many other links on the page where you are posting anyway, and they all reduce the importance of your link.

So my advice is to put as many link as you can and care of in the signature.

Have a nice day.

I think you shouldn't have to worry about that matter. You can do other techniques to build links and besides... links are still links. ;)

I don't think it has anything to do with the number of links in a row but rather the number of links on a page to a specifically to one of your pages. If you have a ton of links on a page pointing to the same web page they might only be counted as one link or only a few links (most likely only one link). But each link to a different page should be counted as a link.
