To concentrate, first read and understand Google guidelines, learn everything from do's and dont's.

Then study those sites who ranked on your target keywords, check their site and how they build their links.

Then come up with good contents different and fresh compare to existing.

Then keep yourself updated with changes on SE's to learn which methods are effected and also learn the right way making them done.
