WWW or not WWW - important to GOOGLE and other SEs?

My advice to you would be to choose one version and stick with it.

You can choose whatever version you like. The important thing is to "tell" Google about it by submitting your option to Google Webmasters Tools.

On the last Webmaster World Confernece Google adviced to use 301 redirect on the none www version and have everything going to www version (or vice versa, if you would like the other one be your main domain).

Thanks for this info as we have no control what other sites which link to our website use.

mainload.. 301 redirection will be the best answer for your requirement and it is also search engine friendly. All your www. can be transformed w/o www. with ease.

In my opinion, both are acceptable by Google and other search engines. In google webmaster tools, you can set whether google results to show your site as www or without it.

if you already started using non www better redirect it with www by using 301 cause this is the best way to preserve it's link juice
