INTERNET giant Google is being challenged by a new search engine that claims to answer users’ questions.






INTERNET giant Google is being challenged by a new search engine " Wolframalpha.com " that claims to answer users’ questions.
A user who asks Wolfram Alpha, “What is the population of Afghanistan?” will be told “27.1million”. Take a look at this.




The website — said to be powered by 10,000 computer processors — will also give the user graphs charting the country’s population through history.

Founder Conrad Wolfram said: “We want to give users an exact answer. It will change how people search online.”

Experts say the site answers specific, not general, questions — and it will not recommend “a good restaurant”.

And still they have to take miles and years to even get next to Big G. Google is just people-oriented and keeps improving, they know what people needs and developing more helpful services.

Google has been the pioneer for making web surfing easy and user-friendly, and I really believe they'll continue to do so.

Wolfram Alpha is actually not same as Google. They both are different, and I don't see that Wolfram Alpha will be able to compete with google.

From a business perspective this makes a lot of sense, using a more niche approach. I don't think anyone will be able to compete against Google directly.

Also IF it actually does do what it claims to do Wolf might have a lot of potential it is sounds a like a different type of search tool that can augment someones searches.
