Don't use Black Hat SEO just to get back links in order to get to your desired PR.. Oh, its illegal..

My website is only getting a pagerank of zero. I think it's because I don't have any backlinks to my website. Getting a good pagerank is a very long process and doesn't happen over night.

Do not rely too much on PR to get your site ranks well in google. There's other factors such as relevant backlinks, onpage optimization, etc.
