How can RSS feeds help you ranking ?

Why is it that an RSS feed seems to be picked up quicker by Google than the atcual pages? I say this because my feed goes with one day delay and strangely enough google does not index my to day stories but only the ones of one day old...? Or it should be that googlebots are always one day behind?

my rss feeds also appear on other sites, this might help I guess?
since i started using rss i have seen traffic boost with an extra 2000 per day. Pagerank went up with 1 from 5 to 6

Btw, did you notice that digg.com has a 0 ranking while Fark.com has an 8 ranking?

well, if your site gets linked via digg, it will not get any PR from it... lots of server stress but that's all... get linked via fark and you can get some PR.
