For the new site, is it compulsory to submit in Google or yahoo or Dmoz..??

How does the search engines collect the new sites except Dmoz. I heard now Google is not collecting the source from dmoz also.
So how doest the procedure goes..???

Yeah there fine to submit too for new websites however the chances of being excepted are slim.. Best to submit to them and then walk away and if it gets included well then your one of the lucky ones lol..:)

None of them are compulsory, they are optional..

Some people have told me that it takes up to 2 years from the time that you submit to the time that you are actually included in the directory. Another thing that they mentioned is that you can only submit once otherwise you jeopardize your chances in being included at all. I submitted a couple of months ago and I am still waiting!

I've found that Dmoz is a great place to get your site listed if you can but as of lately it's been really hard to get your site listed in there. If anyone has had any luck with that let me know - and let me know what you did that was successful, thanks.

I think DMOZ has stopped to accept the new data for a while.. Might be that can be the reason.. :(

i have read that becoming an editor makes it more likely to be admitted but you have to be honest when you apply and say that you own a website related to the subject you are applying to edit. i'm sure someone could track that info if they wanted to, even if you don't admit it in your app.

i have submitted a few sites to dmoz. it's easy to submit but hard to be accepted!

same situation with my site VietBDS.com. I've submitted more than 1 one but it still has not been approved.
I agree to you completely. There was a directory in which my site was submitted approx 2.5 years ago, I just saw the date and it got approved now.. But there are some directories which give the approval or rejection within days...

I would wait and get some quality content on your site before submitting it to DMOZ. Sites get accepted because they are deemed as offering quality content, if the site is pretty much a shell the chances are it will get rejected.

No. It is not necessary to submit to DMOZ. DMOZ usually takes months or even years before a site get listed on it.
